Hello Everyone,
Well, the adventure is winding down for now....actually, it came to a rather abrupt and chilly halt when I stepped off the plane in Vancouver. I had a lovely breakfast in Japan in 35 degree heat earlier that day, and dinner in 12 degrees that same afternoon. I tell you, it's just not right. It's not.
My friends in Vancouver joke that I made a wuss of a Canadian since I could barely even take the autumn weather. haha...yeah..very funny. This is one of the reasons why I love Bikram's yoga so much, the room is heated to sauna levels....ohhhh...soooo...gooooooddd...
It was awesome to see some old friends in BC. It rained most days, but it was still good fun. The international film festivel happened to be on so I went and saw a Hungarian flick which was pretty good actually. It was called Kontroll. The translations weren't very good though, especially the swearing because Hungarian is a very detail oriented, metaphorical language, and even the best English translations fell short.
Last weekend there was even a Hungarian Festival. It was quite funny, friends kept pointing that I seemed to have brought the Hungarian flavour with me to BC during my stay. There was traditional dancing, food and happy, wild, carefree, gypsy violin music, ahhhh...wild violin music...much fun was had. I visited Victoria as well. It reminded me a lot of Halifax. It had everything you could possibly want in a city, with the smaller town feeling, the people seemed a lot happier and more relaxed as well, probably has a little something to do with the fact that they get nearly 50% less rain than Vancouver.
Before I left Japan, I managed to get out with some Japanese friends to karaoke. Avi my dear, you would have been so proud of me...I actually did a song...A Chilli Peppers song that no one else could rap as fast as I - so I ended up with it and I have to say it was pretty funny. The Japanese really, REALLY love their karaoke. Ok. That's it for now.
ps. damn it's cold in this country - and it's not even minus 30 yet!!
good qi to all,
YF
